Bring back your reading logs before Thursday afternoon when we go to the book fair for purchasing items. Remember – maximum of $5.00 per student for the coupons for the reading logs.

Two notes were sent home today – volunteers for teacher appreciation week and one about PAA at St. Vital’s that starts next Friday.

MATH:
—-wrote unit 4 test today – 9 students missing in total – they will write their test asap.
—-starting unit 5 tomorrow

ELA:
—-spelling and words to go were corrected today- those students with a mark lower than 80% were asked to redo the assignment.

SO ST 8C
—-What in the World was due today – those who were not done were removed from other classes and asked to work on that assignment.

NO skiing tomorrow! It has been postponed to Thursday, Feb 1 – hopefully the weather will be much better then!

Still missing 25 assignments from 8C and 6 from 8B! Please check edmodo for missing assignments. I will update it later this evening!

9:25 posting – There are three students so far here in 8C today and 8 in 8B – will keep you posted!!!

ELA: They are working on the handout from yesterday – the three pages at the back of the booklet – the first page cannot be done without the reading book – but the others can! Please remember that spellling and words to go are due!!!

10:50 posting:  8C is up to 4 brave students now; 8B still has 8!

MATH:  Reviewed for tomorrow’s math test by competing against each other to see who could advance to the front of the classroom!  Good work students! 

Test:  Part A:  fill in the blanks with the formulas.  This will be turned in before starting part B and students will be given a page with the correct formulas before starting part B.  Part A is worth 12 marks.

Part B:  Solve 6 volume questions involving three different types of prisms and one surface area question involving a cylinder.

PLEASE NOTE:  Friday’s ski trip has been postponed to Thursday, February 2 – let’s hope for better, warmer weather by then!!!  Regular classes will occur this Friday!

3:10 update: 

Library class after dinner – homework and silent reading

Followed by Fitness class for half an hour

Computer class:  students were given free time today

Health class:  Mrs. Beavers showed a video

—-worked on overdues during class – too many students owe assignments in too many classes. Spent the end of the day trying to get people caught up so they can do better on tests that are coming up!

—-Test on the legislature is next week.

ELA:
—-spelling lesson 17 and Words to Go lesson 15 are due on Wednesday (tomorrow)

PAA:

—-students will be starting PAA at St. Vital next Friday (Jan 27).  They will need to bring the following with them: for cooking:  kitchen apron, duo tang, writing utensil for cooking – long hair must be tied back,  for woods and welding- long sleeve shirt, solid pants, colsed shoes, long hair tied up, overalls or coveralls if you already have them (they are available at St Vital as well.)  **Mp3′s, cell phones, I-pods are not to be used during class.

Ski forms need to be in!
